Dave Seaman is a name thats been about for quite a while and this is his debut for Great Stuff Recordings. This one is called ‘Flatter to Deceive’ and as well as the original mix, it has a remix by Seff. The original is a bouncy, sketchy tech house track with some really nice elements. Nice deep bass riff sitting under some big distinctive open hats and some high pitched blips along with a wailing vocal. I really like this! The Seff remix is a bit deeper than the original and also has some really nice elements such as a repetitive sequenced vocal and bass stab which add a really nice rhythm. This version also has a very deep bass riff that would sound amazing on a big club system. Thumbs up from me and I look forward to dropping this in the clubs!

Sonny Wharton – Dazed & Confused
Another name that’s no stranger to this website is Sonny Wharton, and he’s back after his last smasher on Skint Records called Pandemonium (also featured on phuk!) with this banger called ‘Dazed & Confused’, on his own label ‘Whartone Records’. From the off this is a nice lively tune. I love the looped vocal during the breakdown, eventually it drops into a fantastic punchy bass pattern with some great stabby synths. If you’re after a track which is constantly upbeat and continually building, then this is it! Very well produced. I know Sonny will read this as he too follows some of the reviews from us at PHUK (Source: Twitter), and I take my hat to you on this one. Awesome!

Money & Cash – Work This (Federico Scavo Remix)
Now this is a track thats getting absolutely hammered by a lot of the big names at the moment. Federico Scavo on the remix of this one and believe me it’s a biggun! HUGE brass bass riff that builds and builds into an almighty drop. Lovely off-beat snares give this a real skippy drum sound. This has main room written all over it and you’ll see why! Federico Scavo is a producer we follow closely and I gotta say that this is one of my favourites of his. Right up my street!

Hoxton Whores, Martin Villeneuve & Jerome Robins – Dreaming (JL & Afterman Remix)
A few big names responsible for this release on Jungle Funk Recordings. This particular version is the JL & Afterman Remix. You’ll recognise the bassline from the popular track ‘Flashdance’ by ‘Deep Dish’, and this remix keeps the track upbeat whilst cutting up the original bass riff and creating something completely different. Really nice breakdown and a huge riser build into a big drop. I particularly love the repetitive vocal loop after the drop. This track is a big, bouncy tech house banger and you need to check it out NOW!

NIBC & Life So Far – You Let Me Go
This is something new on HK Records by NIBC & Life So Far, and as well as an original mix, it comes with a remix from LKiD. The original has all the elements of a current deep house track but seems a lot more upbeat and worthy of smashing a main room to pieces! I particularly like the old garage style warp bass riff coupled with the keys chords. What a smasher! The LKiD remix is a lot more laid back and actually pretty soulful with some lovely rhodes chords and an amazing echoing vocals. This kicks in with a nice punchy bass pattern to boot. Awesome release, check it out!

Nout Masalute – Can’t Stop Remix EP
Okay, so I’ve been meaning to review this for a few days now but haven’t been able to due to being away from a computer, out gigging and doing the radio show. I have been sent literally hundreds of track submissions this week and this EP stood out from most. Sent in from Austrian label ‘BABA Records’ is this remix package of the the track ‘Can’t Stop’ by ‘Nout Masalute’. This package consists of two remixes, first up is the ‘Gee Van D Never Stop Dub Mix’, well to me, this is tech house/techno at it’s finest! This has some great drum fills, eerie stabs, creepy vocals all sitting nicely over a lovely deep subby bassline. I particularly like the sidechained string chord sat in the background. This version has so many little elements building into the track, it is simply awesome. The next remix is the ‘Franz Johann ReShuffled Edit’. This is a lot more lively than the previous remix, making great use of a nice open hat in the drum pattern which I feel, defines this version. I love the big deep sub-bass riff sitting under the drums and can imagine this ‘going off’ on a big sound system at a big underground event. I played the Franz Johann remix on my radio show on Saturday morning and got a great response, we shall definitely be supporting this release. Get on this now, you need it!

Trav & Volta Vs Marco Darko – Hey Boy EP
Nice deep house EP by Trav & Volta Vs Marco Darko released on King Street Sounds. This is made up of two-tracks, first up is Trav & Volta’s ‘Hey Boy’ which is a bassline driven, deep, bouncy monster! I like everything about this track from the female vocal, the sketchy drums and the huge drop into that almighty bassline. This has a really strong groove, it’s huge! The second track is Trav & Volta and Marco Darko’s ‘Uncomfortably Numb’ which makes use of some really nice synths and a subtle punchy bass riff. This has a slight old skool feel to it and has an occasional airy foghorn sound that gives the whole track a sense of eerieness! Great release.

Loko – Kolosus (Original Mix)
Now this is one of those tunes I just stumbled across and thought “Yes, I love this”. It just seems to have all the elements of a big room house tune and all in the right places. Sitting under it all is a nice deep bassline which it doubled up by a high end bass sound, nice little riff too, really catchy! This has a nice deep breakdown too with a chime pattern kicking in before a big rise and drop. Released on Loko’s very own Loko Motion Records. Quality tune!

Gotsome – Bassline (Chocolate Puma Remix)
There are so many different mixes of this track and Defected have even released a whole remix package, I am going to focus solely on the Chocolate Puma remix. I loved the original of this track and if you missed it then you should go & check it out, Chocolate Puma have added this stomping bassline into this version that definitely gets me going. This has main room house written all over it and guaranteed to get the hands in the air. I can’t wait to drop this at one of my gigs.

Sixteenofive – Platform Vol. 17
Well here’s a tasty four-track release from huge label 1605. This is a label that is absolutely havin’ it at the moment with an army of powerful releases behind them. Lets go through these four tracks individually..
Groovebox & Electronic Empire – Puff Puff Pass – This is a main room tech house track with a nice choppy vocal sat over some big techy hats and a nice bass riff. The track breaks down nicely to just a kick and the vocal with a riser before the big drop, love it!
Xell & Howid – Glost – This builds nicely from the start, has a huge sub bass riff and a constant stabby synth throughout. Really long rising build up with loads of snares and fills then dropping back into the bassline. Nice!
Anti-Slam & W.E.A.P.O.N. – Champion Sound – I love the little vocal in this, and it’s been expertly chopped up. Nice big sub bass after the drop which sits under some big techy drums too, great tune.
Hazzaro – Rock It – Strong drums from the start, into a filtered bass and rising into an electro sounding riff with fusion of male and female vocal snippets. This has a real old skool retro feel to it and although different, is awesome!
