Preview: Edgar VM – Feel It / Love My Funk Soul

Coming soon on Caballero Recordings, Edgar Vm has put together this awesome two-part release. The first track is called ‘Feel It’ and consists of some nice complex, almost tribal sounding drums with some nice snares in the breakdown. Very well produced, one for the dancefloors! The second track is ‘Love My Funk Soul’, it has a nice upbeat feel with more complex drums, a great breakdown which rises and drops into a bouncy tech frenzy. Love this! Not sure of the release date at the moment, keep your eyes out!

Preview: Chris Malinchak – If U Got It (Mark Knight Remix)

Well it doesn’t get any bigger than this. Since 2003 Toolroom Record’s Head Honcho, Mark Knight, has been setting the dance music scene alight. Mark’s productions are inspiring, creative, faultless and with his iconic sound, this track is no exception! Even the biggest icons in dance music deserve constant recognition and gratitude for the music they give us. This Mark Knight remix of Chris Malinchak is already taking Radio 1 by storm, championed by pretty much every dance DJ. It’s going to be a biggy, and definitely will rank up there in Beatport! Let’s see if Mark Knight can hit the top spot when this is released, 26th January 2014. We hope so, as we absolutely LOVE this track!

Hot Since 82 – Hot’s Groove (Little Black Book)

Sensational Leeds based producer, Hot Since 82, has absolutely nailed it with this genre defying track on Jaymo & Andy George’s Label, Moda Black. Released late last month, it’s a sultry blend of deep melodic bass house, future garage beats, and essential house sounds. I have a distinctly eclectic taste in music, and absolutely love what this track brings to a set. Whilst not a mailroom dance floor destroyer, it’s no doubt a set defining moment for any seasoned clubber or jock, with it’s masterful break and build that gives me goosebumps (i’m not joking, my hairs are on end typing this). It’s that ‘this is it’ moment. A cut to change the mood, and define your intention. It’s that track you cannot get out your head the day after, as you cut together a montage of the ‘night before’ in your head, with that knowing smile. Pure musical ecstasy.

DJ PP – Just Nina (Jerome Robins Groove Mix)

Something new on Gabriel Rocha’s label ‘PP Music’ by the man himself. I have decided to write about the Jerome Robins remix of this track as it’s by far my favourite, but I have linked the Beatport link to show all four mixes. As you will hear, this track is a complete rework of an absolute classic – Nina Simone’s ‘Sinnerman’, which I’ve heard been done many times before. Unfortunately most reworks don’t see the light of day and the most successful was a few years ago out on Toolroom Records. Jerome Robins has remixed DJ PP’s version and incorporated a nice flowing bassline pattern. This is a serous remix, I can’t wait to play this out!

Jorge Montia – Back to Basics

Sphera Recordings have done it again with this smasher by Jorge Montia. Using the vocal from Chic’s ‘Good Times’ laid over a nice bouncy tech house drum pattern and an infectious bassline. This is one for the main room, straight in the gig bag!

Amin Golestan & Marco G – Sanctuary (Muzzaik Remix)

The battle for loudness and stereo space rages on, with this re-release on Reflective’s Re:Vibe Tech House Compilation! The favourite to win isn’t some stadium filling ‘EDM’ monster, but a brutal percussive tech-house drummer on the front line! This remix by Muzzaik reinforces their punchy stubby production style with a real speaker-tester! In 2010, this track was doing what EDM is doing now, so has been thrust back into the spotlight. Plenty of delayed percussive stabs, reverb grand piano and white noise make this one contemporary club-destroyer. Death by drums.

My Digital Enemy – Shamen

Take a big chord-led, afro-tech, main-room stomper, put it into bed with a T909, and sultry ‘bass house’ baseline. The result – you end up with a hit-track lovechild a little bit like this. My Digital Enemy continue to destroy the constant need for sub-genre labelling by producing this dance music sensation! This makes you dance. Simples.

Preview: Umek & Groovebox – Sweet Harmony

A very big main room house version of the classic track by Liquid, big build up and a great drop! UMEK & Groovebox have transferred this monster tune into a main room smasher! I’ve got to say, the sample on Soundcloud is only 42 seconds long which isn’t long enough really but you’ll get the picture! This is released on 31st January.. Enjoy!

Mario Ochoa & DJ PP – Gotcha / Move!

New out on Great Stuff Records, a great EP by DJ PP (Gabriel Rocha) and Mario Ochoa. The first track is a banging tech house track called ‘Gotcha’, it has a nice infectious bassline with some great breakdowns and build ups. Lovely! The second track is ‘Move!’ and this is a nice techno track with a few blippy synths and a brilliant hi-hat pattern. Lots of builds, filters and big bass. One for the gig bag! Happy Days!

Sixteenofive – Platform Vol. 16

Well, if there is a tech house blog on the internet that hasn’t featured this 8 track release on 1605 then they are clearly mad! What a release!! I’m not going to go into details about every track separately as it’d take too long! I will however, point out my favourite tracks on the release. For me, the best track of these is ‘Anti Slam & W.E.A.P.O.N. – Move It’ followed closely by ‘Egoism, Bazu – Kak Dela’. All 8 tracks are amazing and would get played out by me! Have a listen, it’s big!

Jay Lumen – I House U EP

A nice new 3 part release on 100% Pure by Jay Lumen. Jay has been pushing out some top quality tech house in recent years and has fairly recently changed his style a bit to incorporate some really heavy old skool speed garage bassline sounds into his production. The first track on this release is ‘I House U’ and it’s exactly what I just described! Big warpy bassline complimented with some nice bouncy tech house drums, this will go off in a club guaranteed! The second track was co-produced with Max Demand and is called ‘Say What’; a big tech house tune with a really nice breakdown and drop, love this! The final track is called ‘Where is the beat’ and it’s an awesome tech house track, nice bouncy drums with some big choppy vocals. I would definitely play all three out in the clubs! Another big release…
