Siwell – Reset EP

Ok, so I got sent this EP a couple of weeks ago and have had time to test drive it both out in the clubs, and on my radio show. This two track EP is simply amazing and goes down a treat. First up is the title track called ‘Reset’ which is a huge tech house/techno stomper. This has loads of deep sub-bass sat under some glitchy drums and offbeat snares, a huge breakdown, great vocal and quality drop. Definitely a club track. The next tune is called ‘Feel Alright’ which has some really bouncy drums and percussion that breaks right down before a nice riser and big drop into something that would pretty much force your feet to move on a dancefloor. Seriously, this EP is huge so take a listen. Sphera Records have done it again!

Nout Masalute – Can’t Stop Remix EP

Okay, so I’ve been meaning to review this for a few days now but haven’t been able to due to being away from a computer, out gigging and doing the radio show. I have been sent literally hundreds of track submissions this week and this EP stood out from most. Sent in from Austrian label ‘BABA Records’ is this remix package of the the track ‘Can’t Stop’ by ‘Nout Masalute’. This package consists of two remixes, first up is the ‘Gee Van D Never Stop Dub Mix’, well to me, this is tech house/techno at it’s finest! This has some great drum fills, eerie stabs, creepy vocals all sitting nicely over a lovely deep subby bassline. I particularly like the sidechained string chord sat in the background. This version has so many little elements building into the track, it is simply awesome. The next remix is the ‘Franz Johann ReShuffled Edit’. This is a lot more lively than the previous remix, making great use of a nice open hat in the drum pattern which I feel, defines this version. I love the big deep sub-bass riff sitting under the drums and can imagine this ‘going off’ on a big sound system at a big underground event. I played the Franz Johann remix on my radio show on Saturday morning and got a great response, we shall definitely be supporting this release. Get on this now, you need it!

Pawsa – Pilot EP

Out on Lost Records and a debut on the label for Pawsa. There’s four tracks on this EP release including 3 originals and a remix from Supernova. The first is ‘Pilot’, a nice deep bassline sitting under a big flowing drum pattern with some great sounding twitchy shakers, very eerie flow but awesome! The second track is called ‘Narcissist’ and is slightly more upbeat, nice techy drums & stabby synth with a very deep bass pattern. This definitely needs to be heard on a big club system to really appreciate it, huge tune! The final track is ‘Pretty Good Debbie’ which features the Supernova remix. The original has a great breakdown and a vocal by Denzel Washington taken from the film ‘Training Day’. Also has a nice build and drop into a deep techy corker. The Supernova remix is a slightly more upbeat version with a flowing synth and an acid warp sounding bassline, massive tune! Although all tracks are brilliant, I’d say my favourite is Pilot. Check out all four tracks on this single Soundcloud sample.

Max Linen – Flashback (Pirupa Remix)

A track with a trip down memory lane really. The sound on this is exclusive and identifiable to the one and only Pirupa. Back in 2010, Myself and Lawrence destroyed the airwaves of Select Uk with the thunderous tech-techno mergers of Pirupa. Full of eclectic tribal rhythm and percussion, but with strong techno inspired relentless bass and affected vocals. This track has a trippy, acidic, breakdown – but smacks back in without fail, with the trademark Pirupa rhythm and drums. If ‘Drum and Bass’ wasn’t a 170bpm genre all of it’s own, it would be a great way to describe this track. Maybe Bass and Drum will do. The artwork is crazy, but, definitely worth a download.

Sebastien Leger – Waves Of Life

Sebastien Leger is a name that needs no introduction, I have reviewed countless of his tracks in the past and this is another worth shouting about! Fresh on 1605 Music Therapy, this is one for a big sound system. A big bouncy rhythm with a blippy chord pattern, loads of builds and a nice little drop. I want to hear this in a big club soon! Due for release on 20th January.

Hot Since 82 – Hot’s Groove (Little Black Book)

Sensational Leeds based producer, Hot Since 82, has absolutely nailed it with this genre defying track on Jaymo & Andy George’s Label, Moda Black. Released late last month, it’s a sultry blend of deep melodic bass house, future garage beats, and essential house sounds. I have a distinctly eclectic taste in music, and absolutely love what this track brings to a set. Whilst not a mailroom dance floor destroyer, it’s no doubt a set defining moment for any seasoned clubber or jock, with it’s masterful break and build that gives me goosebumps (i’m not joking, my hairs are on end typing this). It’s that ‘this is it’ moment. A cut to change the mood, and define your intention. It’s that track you cannot get out your head the day after, as you cut together a montage of the ‘night before’ in your head, with that knowing smile. Pure musical ecstasy.

Kaiserdisco – La Cabrilla

Im not usually a massive lover of techno as it’s usually too deep for me, but occasionally I stumble across some bits that I really love.. this falls into that category! Fresh from Kaiserdisco, here is a two track release called La Cabrilla. The original mix is awesome, I really like the builds and breakdowns all the way through the track and love that elements of the track are added and subtracted throughout. The next is a remix by Sian Speedball, it has the same blippy pattern as the original but some tougher drums with plenty of hats. I would definitely struggle on deciding which mix to play out.. hmm..

Heron – Ride The Pride

I had this one recommended by a friend, not usually my cuppa-tea but it’s simply awesome! It has a really old skool sound to it and I can’t stop nodding my head to it. Not sure where i’d fit this into a set but it’s one for the car and the iPod!
